Lisa Marie
at no.5 in Lisa Marie Presley has been getting excellent reviews for her
new album 'To Whom It May Concern' released in the USA (Capitol
96668) and some other countries although there has been little
publicity in the UK. In the USA she did the "Celebrity Circuit"
appearing on major TV Talk Shows, Radio Shows and in US papers and
magazines. By all accounts she was forthright and upfront dispelling
her shy image to achieve publicity in her own right and not on the
back of her father's fame. I am sure Elvis would be proud of his
daughter and I hope she makes a successful singing career. I would
think most Elvis fans in America would buy her album, just because
she is Elvis' only child, but having bought the album they are
making very positive comments and very soon she will be doing a
national US Tour. Her planned trip to Europe was cancelled because
of the War in Iraq so there has been very little publicity about her
in Europe. Latest Billboard album charts puts her at no. 14 three
weeks after release.
ELVIS comes to EastEnders Finally, the writers for EastEnders cottoned on to the fact that many real EastEnders actually like or rather love Elvis Presley. So after all these years fans of the UK Soap will be introduced to a new family in Albert Square with the father a huge Elvis fan. It will be interesting to see the new story lines for the show with the new character being introduced sometime in early June. Having been born within the sound of Bow Bells I am a true Cockney and then having lived in the East End until I was 15 I am a real East Ender but I never watch the programme because I believe it is so far removed from reality and nothing like the East End of London I grew up in, which was full of love, humour and warmth. However, I am in the minority and the programme has a huge following, not just in Britain, but all over the world. Although a little bit of Elvis Presley I am sure will liven it up and maybe I may even watch one or two episodes. I am sure, once the Elvis character is established, Elvis fans will bombard the programme for more Elvis 'bits' and it will be interesting to see if they get the music rights to play Elvis music during the programme.
