The
Greatest Elvis Show on earth took place in Porthcawl in October 2004. The
whole town, for a bit of fun, went “ELVIS” for a long weekend and
everyone loved it. The pubs, the clubs, the theatres, the restaurants, the
hotels, Welsh Male Choirs and even the shopping centre all went Elvis. This
was the first time such an event has taken place in Britain with the whole
town celebrating ‘Elvis Presley’. Even the Mayor and his wife renewed
their wedding vows at a mass wedding Event on the Porthcawl seafront. In the
words of Charles Stone, Elvis’ Tour Producer, ‘I
have attended many Elvis events but this was the most memorable. I am proud
to have been part of it.’
Charles
Stone loved it so much he is bringing back to this year’s Festival
America’s No.1 ETA, Kraig Parker with ‘The Sweet Inspirations’, ‘The
Stamps’ and Kraig’s own band, all the way from Texas. This year’s
Festival will be held over the long weekend of September 30th-October
2nd 2005. “Porthcawl Elvis Festival 2” will be the greatest
Elvis weekend in the history of Rock ‘n’ Roll but if you don’t book
immediately you will miss it because Porthcawl is only a small, intimate
town with small auditoriums and limited hotel space and fans will come from
not only all over Britain but all of Europe.
