Betting to get Lisa to No.1
in the UK Charts
On June 18th 2003 Elvisly Yours placed a £100.00 bet with William Hill, the famous Bookmakers, that Lisa Marie Presley will get to no.1 in the UK Singles Chart with her first single, “Lights Out” and thus beat her father (Elvis only reached no.2 with Heartbreak Hotel). William Hill gave us excellent odds of 10-1 and if we win £1,000.00 will be paid by William Hill to the cancer charity, the “ Lynda Jackson MacMillan Centre”. Even if we don’t win William Hill have kindly agreed to donate the stake money of £100.00 to the “Lynda Jackson MacMillan Centre”.
I am sure that Elvis is looking down from “Blue Suede Heaven” rooting for his lovely Lisa and praying she gets to no.1. Elvis fans will go out and buy the record in memory and tribute to Elvis and it is a neat, catchy song which on its own merits can reach no.1 in the UK. Also, Elvis fans will know that buying the record may help a very worthy cancer charity who specialise in counselling and helping people who have cancer or are affected by cancer in the family.
I asked William Hill if they can make the bet available to the general public but if everyone bet on Lisa and she reached no.1 the Bookmaker would be “All Shook Up” facing a payout of £millions. So, I am afraid the bet is unique to Elvisly Yours and is probably the first time such a bet has been placed in aid of charity.
That great Elvis Tribute Artist, Liberty Mounten, kindly donated his time to help with the promotion. At one stage outside the Elvisly Yours Shop at 233 Baker Street, London NW1 he was mobbed by young French tourists and included in our photos of the day is one taken with two pretty Elvis fans.
Just like our campaign for “A Little Less Conversation” we are heavily promoting Lisa’s song on our website and to Elvis fans, Elvis fan clubs and Elvis websites around the world. We hope that overseas fans will order the single from UK Record Stores. It seems that each country chooses the additional tracks to ‘Lights Out’ and in the UK there is also a DVD single with ‘Lights Out’, a video about the song and ‘Savior’.
Getting Lisa to no.1 in the UK will provide excellent PR for Elvis in the British media and help a worthy cancer charity. So go out and order ‘Lights Out’ today and tell your family and friends and their family and friends to buy this great new single by Lisa Marie
We would like to thank Graham
