Julie Parrish

Julie wrote to Elvisly Yours when she found our details on the internet and asked if any fan could help her with personal research and I wrote back and offered our help by promoting her request on our website. Julie Parrish has been doing research to trace her English ancestry in the Brighton area of Sussex and she needs to have photocopies of documents held in the Public Records Office in Kew, west London. If you are a fan who lives in London (ideally near Kew) and could spend an afternoon at the Public Record office photocopying a few pages from historic documents you will be forever in the gratitude of Julie. She will be happy to send signed photos of her and Elvis from 'Paradise Hawaiian Style' and pay any travel and copying expenses.

Any Elvis fan who would like to help please contact me by email sid@elvisly-yours.com giving your daytime telephone number and I will liaise with him/her to explain exactly what is needed. The search will certainly be interesting and you will be helping one of Elvis' co-stars. If you want to find out more about Julie Parrish, check out her website Julie Parrish Official Website . Julie has given much of her recent life to helping battered and abused wives even though she has had her own health problems. Read all about Julie's career and life on her website and hopefully someone who lives local to Kew could help with her ancestral search.

Brazilian Elvis Fans

Elvis fans around the world have a very wide selection of choice of Elvis music with many special editions coming out over the years but  NOT in Brazil .

There are millions of Elvis fans in Brazil yet almost no albums to buy. In London in major record stores you can find 60 or more Elvis CDs but in Brazil just one "ELVIS 1". Our Elvis brothers and sisters in Brazil have had enough and want your help to bombard BMG with emails helping their cause to get more Elvis Music in Brazil.

Simply write emails to: webmaster@bmg.com.br and mktstrat.rj@bmg.com demanding they release more Elvis music in Brazil.

If you want more information on the Brazilian Elvis campaign go to the website :
www.leoviselvisfanclub.ubbi.com.br and you can even send a copy of your emails to the campaign leader, Leovis. Just imagine what you would feel like if you went into your favourite record store and could only find one Elvis CD ?

Don't wait, do it today, send an email to BMG Brazil and get them "All Shook Up". You can also phone the RCA head office in America  and speak to the marketing department for South America Call : 1 -212 -930 -4406

This August will see the 26th Anniversary of Elvis' death. Each year I get email  from around the world stating the Elvis phenomenon cannot last and I always think that they are wrong and Elvis will just go one and on. My dear friend, Bill Burk, has been telling me forever that such and such a year will be the last major Elvis year, yet this, the 26th year since Elvis went to 'Blue Suede Heaven'  there are probably more Elvis shows than ever.

Listed below are some of the Tribute Shows which we highly recommend and please tell your family and friends about these great shows, support them now so that in 2103 your great grand children will still be able to enjoy Elvis Shows, probably even on the Moon. The talent Elvis had in such abundance will go on and on through his music, films and Tribute Artists trying to recreate the magic of the King of Rock 'n' Roll.

In aid of terminally ill Children

August 16th will be 26 years since Elvis Aaron Presley left this world and we aim to honour his memory in style this year in Brighton. If you can't make it to Memphis this year, then why not come to the City by the sea for "ELVIS26".

Our special "ELVIS26" event is in aid of the ‘Chestnut Tree House Appeal’ which is a hospice for Children with terminal illnesses and allows for the Children and their families to live in comfort in those last days together. This hospice is very much like ‘St. Judes Hospital’ in Memphis, which Elvis himself donated much money to in his life time and so we are only too pleased to be able to help this wonderful cause in some way. We hope to raise £3,000 so if you cannot make it on the 16th, then why not help us by donating some money? Anything will help. Ask your friends and family to contribute £1.00 each and pretty soon we will reach our target for these Children. Our very special guest is Donna Presley Early, the first cousin of Elvis. She lived at Graceland and also on Elvis’ Circle G ranch. Donna’s mother is Nash Presley, the sister of Vernon, and Donna has many wonderful memories of life with Elvis the man.Her book, "Elvis - Precious Memories" will be available to buy at the event and she will be signing copies for the fans. Donna will also be holding a short Q&A session for those wishing to ask questions.

The event will include a talk by Donna Presley, Elvis Disco, Raffle, Tribute Artist, Jive Show, and Elvis shop.

Tickets cost £15.00 and can be purchased from our usual address.

The venue is the HILTON METROPOLE HOTEL on Brighton seafront. Tell EVERYONE, and together we will raise money for the Children and make their last days more comfortable and all in the name of Elvis Presley.

If you require more information or advise on hotels in Brighton then call us on
01273 386312 and ask for Lana.
If you would like to make a donation to our fund then please make cheques/postal orders payable to: The Elvis Express

Address all letters for donations to: The Elvis Express Childrens Hospice Appeal,

Lisa Marie at no.5 in
US Album Charts

Lisa Marie Presley has been getting excellent reviews for her new album 'To Whom It May Concern' released in the USA (Capitol 96668) and some other countries although there has been little publicity in the UK. In the USA she did the "Celebrity Circuit" appearing on major TV Talk Shows, Radio Shows and in US papers and magazines. By all accounts she was forthright and upfront dispelling her shy image to achieve publicity in her own right and not on the back of her father's fame. I am sure Elvis would be proud of his daughter and I hope she makes a successful singing career. I would think most Elvis fans in America would buy her album, just because she is Elvis' only child, but having bought the album they are making very positive comments and very soon she will be doing a national US Tour. Her planned trip to Europe was cancelled because of the War in Iraq so there has been very little publicity about her in Europe. Latest Billboard album charts puts her at no. 14 three weeks after release.

ELVIS comes to EastEnders

Finally, the writers for EastEnders cottoned on to the fact that many real EastEnders actually like or rather love Elvis Presley. So after all these years fans of the UK Soap will be introduced to a new family in Albert Square with the father a huge Elvis fan. It will be interesting to see the new story lines for the show with the new character being introduced sometime in early June.

Having been born within the sound of Bow Bells I am a true Cockney and then having lived in the East End until I was 15 I am a real East Ender but  I never watch the programme because I believe it is so far removed from reality and nothing like the East End of London I grew up in, which was full of love, humour and warmth. However, I am in the minority and the programme has a huge following, not just in Britain, but  all over the world. Although a little bit of Elvis Presley I am sure will liven it up and maybe I may even watch one or two episodes. I am sure, once the Elvis character is established, Elvis fans will bombard the programme for more Elvis 'bits' and it will be interesting to see if they get the music rights to play Elvis music during the programme.
